Registered and ongoing trials
This site lists published studies. Trials that are registered but not yet reported live in the public registries. The links below run a live search on each one, so the list stays current without this page changing.
Search the registries
- ClinicalTrials.gov: carnosine (United States registry, used worldwide)
- ANZCTR: carnosine (Australia and New Zealand). Several of the metabolic trials on this site were run in Melbourne.
- EU Clinical Trials Register
- WHO ICTRP searches most national registries at once. Type carnosine in the search box.
Search separately for beta-alanine and polaprezinc; registries index the substance given, not the molecule studied.
Registry entries describe a plan, not a result. A trial listed as completed may never publish.
What to look for in a registry entry
- The date it was registered, against the date recruitment started.
- The primary outcome. If the published paper reports a different one, ask why.
- The planned sample size, against the number in the paper.
- Who is sponsoring it.
When a registered trial publishes, it is added to the research log and the database.
