Human sport

Neither carnosine nor beta-alanine is named on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List. This site could not obtain a direct statement from WADA’s website when it was checked, so the status is recorded from secondary summaries of the 2026 list (Sport Resolutions summary). Run your own check on Global DRO before you rely on it.

Australian guidance

The Australian Institute of Sport lists beta-alanine in its Sports Supplement Framework with a fact sheet describing the loading protocols used in research. It reminds athletes that they carry strict liability and that batch-tested products lower, but do not remove, contamination risk (AIS fact sheet). Sport Integrity Australia states that Global DRO “does not provide the prohibited status of pre-workouts, fat burners, or dietary supplements in general” (Sport Integrity Australia).

What this does not cover

  • The product, not the molecule. A status check covers an ingredient. It does not cover what else a supplement contains.
  • Other years. The WADA list is revised every year.
  • Horses. See Horse racing and sport rules.
